Nourishing Our Community: Why We’re Proud to Support ‘One Can Trust’ This May

At Beechwood Mortgages, our commitment to community extends to the neighbourhoods where our team members live and work. That is why, as we step into May and continue our Year of Giving Back, we are incredibly proud to announce our newest charity partner: One Can Trust.

Nominated by one of our dedicated advisers who lives in the area and sees their impact firsthand, One Can Trust is based in High Wycombe and serves the wider region of South Buckinghamshire. While their warehouse might not be right on our office doorstep, they are a phenomenal organisation that works tirelessly to provide a vital lifeline to local individuals and families facing difficult times in their community.

From a Church Cupboard to a Community Lifeline

The story of One Can Trust is a testament to the power of community action. It started back in 2011 with just a few cans stored in a cupboard at St Andrew’s Church in Hatters Lane. However, it quickly became apparent that there was a rapidly growing need for food support in the area.

Over the years, the charity grew, moving to a locker, then utilising a local church as a distribution hub, and finally settling into their current warehouse on Duke Street in 2016. Today, they pack and distribute hundreds of food parcels every single week to those who need them most.

So Much More Than a Foodbank

What makes One Can Trust so special is the incredible level of care and dignity they put into their support.

Their food parcels aren't just standard boxes; they are carefully packed depending on the size of the family, taking into consideration allergies and dietary needs. Alongside essential cupboard staples, they provide fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery items, toiletries, baby supplies, and even pet food. When time permits, their wonderful volunteers even put together "recipe bags" containing all the necessary ingredients and inspiration to cook a healthy meal!

But their impact doesn't stop at food. One Can Trust has also established a highly successful Community Support Team. They are a true community hub, offering:

• Friendly advice and guidance

• A much-needed clothes bank

• Welcoming toddler groups and a community café

• Vital funding for a school meals programme for children not eligible for free school meals
