The reality is that the current care system isn’t working properly, and it is children and young people who are paying the price. When it comes time to leave the care system and transition into adulthood, many young people face this steep cliff edge without the safety net of family support that so many of us take for granted.

For over 30 years, the dedicated team at Become has been fighting to change this narrative. They campaign tirelessly to improve the care system, while simultaneously providing direct, life-changing support to the young people navigating it.

How ‘Become’ Makes a Difference

Become is there for young people every step of the way, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to thrive. Here is how they are making change happen:

• The Care Advice Service: A friendly, accessible lifeline offering expert advice and support for children currently in care and care leavers.

• Navigating Life After Care: As young people move through life, Become helps them understand their rights, access support services, and find vital opportunities to connect with others who share their experiences.

• Propel into Education: Getting into further or higher education can be daunting. Become’s Propel initiative specifically supports care-experienced youth in heading to college or university.

• Propel into Work: Whether a young person is looking for their first job or an apprenticeship, Become provides the practical guidance needed to get ready for the workplace.
