As we continue our 25 Years : 12 Charities : 1 Mission campaign, we are excited to spotlight a partner that brings a unique, vibrant energy to our community. This October, Beechwood Mortgages is proud to support Readipop, a charity that truly believes in the transformative power of music.

Based in Reading and working extensively across the Thames Valley, Readipop isn't just about music lessons; it’s about using creativity to build confidence, foster connection, and create positive change for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Music That Moves Communities

About Readipop

At the heart of Readipop’s philosophy is the belief that music has the power to change lives. Their work is built upon three core principles:

  • Creating work that inspires people and improves lives.

  • Nurturing creativity as a fundamental part of a fulfilled life.

  • Connecting people through the shared love of music.

Readipop’s programmes are designed to be inclusive, participant-led, and highly creative. They provide welcoming spaces where anyone - from someone picking up an instrument for the first time to an emerging musician looking for their next opportunity - can express themselves, grow in confidence, and explore their full potential.

Supporting People Through Music

Readipop works with people from a wide range of backgrounds, with a special focus on communities and individuals facing disadvantage, marginalisation, or hardship. By providing accessible opportunities to engage with music, they help participants discover their own voice.

Their diverse range of projects includes:

  • One-to-one music mentoring: Dedicated support for vulnerable and referred young people.

  • The ‘Access All Areas’ programme: Music-based mentoring and creative projects for young people who may experience social exclusion or face barriers to education.

  • School workshops: Engaging sessions covering everything from music technology, drumming, and composition to DJing and production.

  • Community bands and music groups: Creating spaces for people to connect and perform together.

  • The annual Readipop Festival: A fantastic community event that showcases local talent alongside world-renowned acts.

Whether it’s learning guitar, vocals, or rapping, or diving into music production, live technology, and songwriting, Readipop encourages participants to follow their own interests and discover what they can achieve.

Music in the Classroom

Readipop’s impact extends into local schools, where they deliver workshops that bring creativity, collaboration, and imagination into the curriculum. From half-day taster sessions to long-term projects, they introduce students to a vast array of musical activities, including:

  • African and Samba carnival drumming.

  • Composition using graphic scores.

  • Live music technology, including iPads and Kaoss Pads.

These sessions help pupils explore new skills and forms of expression, often acting as the first step on a creative journey for many young people.

Creating Lasting Impact

Readipop reaches thousands of people across Reading and the Thames Valley, helping them develop musicianship, build self-confidence, and find new ways to share their ideas. By creating these vital pathways into creative education and community engagement, Readipop ensures that everyone has the chance to celebrate their achievements and shape their own future.

We are delighted to shine a light on Readipop’s inspiring work throughout October. By making music more accessible and creating spaces where everyone can participate, Readipop is helping people connect, grow, and find their own paths through creativity.
